Its my Blog and I’ll write if I want to: My Bible says someday there will be a ‘New Heaven and new EARTH!’
Sometimes you have so many thoughts about what you hear in the media that you either stop listening to anyone—or you listen to everything and are constantly confused. We are a country that has lost its faith in its leaders, its police, its judges, and its secret service. Criminals shame-facedly go free while I think, “I’d get 20 years for looking the wrong way at a cop.”
We are all grieving this unnecessary war in Ukraine and praying for its citizens. But as we do, we look to the left and right and follow the money and start asking ourselves, “What ARE we fighting for?” Since I was a little girl, we’ve been fighting in the Middle East and we’ve always been reliant on other nations for our oil—wars I always hated because I always knew our country could be energy dependent—yet policies were made to shut down the Keystone pipeline and drilling in the gas-rich states in recent years.
I’ll be clear here: God has given us a RESPONSIBILITY to “rule over the earth and animals” but with that comes care and preservation. Never forget your God-given ability to make this planet better!!! But let’s not go so far we forget that God also gave us resources we should not squander.
The answer: The Climate Change Cult—5 reasons I believe it’s a Cult:
This thinking goes something like this, “Lets solve our energy deficiency and reliance by creating clean/renewable energy.” (sounds GREAT, right? I’m all for it!!!) And “Get an electric car!” *DUH!!* I can almost feel the sneer of the lady parked next to me with her little ‘green’ car and judging me. But I’d love to see her electric bill! (I digress lol) But my next thought is always the sourcing of ingredients that fuel her BATTERY—which I have a huge problem with–probably as much of a problem as she has with my gas-guzzler!. (the ‘judginess gets worse when we experience soaring gas prices as we are now) So here’s why I believe climate change can become “cult-ish” and perhaps even keep us reliant on oil, electricity, and other sources of power:
Our region has legions of windmills. They are not renewable, in fact, there’s nowhere to dispose of these. Wind turbines are the most visible symbols of the quest for renewable electricity generation (and at first, I was really positive about them!). And yet, although they exploit the wind, which is as free and as green as energy can be, the machines themselves are pure embodiments of fossil fuels. So far we’ve found that they hardly produce enough energy to power a small town like Troy, PA near us (population 1,500). That’s not good news—especially if you saw the many, many mountains right around Troy just loaded with turbines. And where do we dispense of them? The ocean? When wind turbine blades reach the end of their usefulness, most are sawed into transportable pieces and hauled to landfills, where they never break down. Because of the resources and energy that go into producing these blades, this type of disposal is inefficient and wasteful. (The environmentalists seem to think ‘out of sight out of mind’ here, again.) I DO worry about where we put all of this waste that does not break down. I know–I kinda sound like an environmentalist, huh?
Electric Cars:
Why electric cars are only as clean as their power supply
Experts argue whether electric cars are worse for the environment than gas guzzlers once the manufacturing process and batteries are taken into account.
Electric cars rely on regular charging from the local electricity network, and the power plants providing that energy aren’t emission-free. And again—‘out of sight out of mind’ seems to be an idea again—we may not see the devastating effect this is having on our environment and the environment of other third-world countries that we take our lithium and other ingredients from. We need to. I’ve seen the mines—I’ve seen the ruining of the landscape. If you saw it for yourself, you’d be crying “climate control!” and “save the earth” in those countries!!!
As I drive my gas-guzzler, a newly purchased Tesla zips by, advertising “ZERO EMISSIONS” on its license plate.
Electric cars have never been closer to the mainstream, the market pushed ahead by California subsidies for electric car buyers, and a wide array of new models from established car firms such as Toyota and Chevy. Tesla’s focus on luxury, high-performance vehicles has also broadened their appeal; electric cars are no longer purely an environmental statement, but a tech status symbol too. Don’t you wonder what will happen to the cost of electric once they convince all of us to own electric cars??? Yeah–don’t think about it! ha!
The “zero emissions” claim grates on some experts, who have continued to argue over whether electric cars are really more environmentally friendly than gas guzzlers, once the manufacturing process for the vehicles and their batteries are taken into account.
Electric cars rely on regular charging from the local electricity network. The power plants providing that energy aren’t emission-free; even in California, 60% of electricity came from burning fossil fuels in 2015, while solar and wind together made up less than 14%.
I grieve as I watch, yet again, while our country bows in allegiance to Venezuela, Iran, and Russia, begging for oil. Yeah, that’s smart. Am I the only one that finds this crazy and a bit disturbing??? But don’t mention drilling or fracking in the US—we don’t’ want OUR land scarred, ugly, and losing its natural resources (if I can’t see it, it’s not there—remember?). Sure there are mishaps as in ANYTHING—but stories of polluted water were inflated and pushed by the media as if it were an everyday occurrence. But why do we care less about how this affects the OTHER countries that supply our ‘green’ energy supplies that make us feel righteous and good about ourselves? Frankly, I’m ashamed as I peer at the raping of the land all over the world for lithium (start with google maps). And truly, I can’t imagine the environmental disasters of oil drilling in the middle east and elsewhere that warms my house—I doubt they are as strict with their laws! I’d rather use oil used from my own country’s soil who actually has regulations in place and the leaders actually DO care that the fracking and drilling do NOT ruin our environment, and when it does, they take action. I have NO way of knowing how foreign countries do or do NOT protect their citizens from environmental disasters from oil drilling/mining. From the way I see them treat their citizens—I doubt there’s any care.
I’ll get lots of hateful comments on this—or it may not get read at all. That’s ok. It’s my blog and I’ll speak or whine if I want to. This time it’s a semi-rant. I’m tired of the two-faced climate change cult. Time for them to take a world tour of where their lithium batteries come from—and the oil or gas that warms their houses.
Pssst—climate change culture: The virtue signaling is getting old, guys. It’s time to get REAL. Think it’s not a cult? Consider these things:
Rick Ross, an expert on cults and intervention specialists, developed a list of ten warning signs for unsafe groups, which is published by the Cult Education Institute. So let’s take a look at all ten signs and compare.
Over at the always-excellent Power Line blog (started back in 2002 a year before Marginal Revolution and impressively even has its own Wikipedia page!), regular contributor Steve Hayward (who also has his own Wikipedia page) featured excerpts of the Medium.com article, which I’ll now feature below (with a few additions) following Steve’s introduction:
Steve Hayward: I’m fond of referring to the climate campaigners as the “climatistas” because they remind me of the Sandinistas and their fellow-traveling fans back in the 1980s. Here are the ten signs and his introductory description to each, based on the indicators developed by the Cult Education Institute:
1. Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability.
The leading advocates of the Climate Change movement are politicians, entertainers, and even children. Climate preachers such as Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio lack any formal scientific training whatsoever and live personal lives of unparalleled luxury while prescribing carbon austerity for the masses. Yet no one is permitted to point out their scientific ignorance or call attention to their hypocritical lifestyles.
2. No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry.
The conclusions of the Climate Change movement may not be challenged or questioned under any circumstances. Those who dare scrutinize the conclusions, methodology, or prescriptions of “climate scientists” are categorically dismissed as a “Climate Denierk” an excommunicated untouchable whose opinion is no longer valid on any subject.
3. No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget, expenses such as an independently audited financial statement.
Hardly anyone knows just how much money is spent on “Climate research” every year. The cost is spread out among laughably useless study grants, wind and solar farm subsidies, carbon offset credits, “green” building code evaluation and enforcement, salaries for bureaucrats solely dedicated to “climate concerns”…you get the idea, it’s a lot of ‘hazy money.’
4. Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies and persecutions.
This one is pretty obvious. The Climate Change movement always shouts out revised and updated apocalypse predictions, eerily reminiscent of the stereotypical bum on the sidewalk with that “The End Is Near” sign. “The world will end in X years if we don’t do X” is the constant refrain. The years always pass, and the apocalypse never happens. Interestingly, this is a characteristic of multiple religious cults (such as the Seekers of Chicago, and the Order of the Solar Temple). At the moment, we apparently have 12 years to nationalize the entire economy and phase out fossil fuels before we all die a fiery death. (yes, I’ve seen them on our street corners too!)
5. There is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil.
Climate alarmists who leave, step back from, or even lightly criticize the movement are immediately subjected to vicious smear campaigns. Dutch professor Richard Tol experienced this phenomenon firsthand when he removed his name from an IPCC climate report and criticized the report’s excessively apocalyptic predictions.
6. Former members often relate the same stories of abuse and reflect a similar pattern of grievances.
Professor Tol is not an anomaly. Dr. Richard Lindzen of MIT, Dr. Nils-Axel Mörner, and countless other former IPCC in-crowd climate experts was subjected to smear campaigns from their colleagues and the news media for the crime of throwing cold water on the outlandish predictions of the Climate Change movement.
7. There are records, books, news articles, or television programs that document the abuses of the group/leader.
The abuses of the Climate Change movement are loud and proud. They vociferously attack their perceived enemies for public consumption and are cheered on by fellow travelers in the journalism class. Most recently they brainwashed a bunch of kids and marched them into an octogenarian Democrat Senator’s office to beg not to be murdered by a ‘No’ vote on impossible legislation.
8. Followers feel they can never be “good enough.”
The atonement process for Climate warriors always demands more. It started with using a recycling bin and grocery bags. Now, in 2021, being a good follower means imposing veganism on the masses and issuing fatwahs against innocuous objects such as plastic straws and grocery bags. Despite all the efforts of the faithful, Climate minions maintain a constant state of dread and despair, knowing they can never truly do enough to stop the coming doom.
9. The group/leader is always right.
When have the climate leaders been called wrong for their failed predictions? Regardless of the weather, they are always intrinsically correct.
Flood? Climate Change. Drought? Climate Change. No Snow? Climate Change. Too much snow? Climate Change. Hurricane? Climate Change. Lack of hurricanes? Climate Change.
See how this works?
10. The group/leader is the exclusive means of knowing “truth” or receiving validation, no other process of discovery is really acceptable or credible.
The path to discovery for the Climate Change movement is an intentionally vague discipline referred to as “climate science.” Did you carry out a study on gender and glaciers? Climate Science. Did you think up the worst possible scenarios that have no actual chance of happening (actual portion of latest National Climate Assessment)? Climate Science.
Any “science” that confirms the tenets of the Climate Change movement is deemed “climate science,” while actual scientific research that disputes their conclusions is derided as “denialism.”
The Verdict: It’s a cult
According to the established, scientific guidelines developed by cult experts, the Climate Change movement fits the bill for a potentially unsafe group. Rather than debating Climate Change activists, it may be time to start staging interventions. If you want to leave a “better world for your children”—teach them to live justly, judge righteously, think critically, love others, put people before ANYTHING—and share Jesus Christ with them. Show them how to take care of the world without taking advantage of others–and be environmentally conscious and resourceful. That’s the best legacy we can leave our kids. While doing that—let’s leave them clean, PEACEFUL earth where we use our OWN renewable resources. The Bible tells us the earth will be destroyed– but after the second coming there will be a NEW HEAVEN AND NEW EARTH! Make sure your child is following Christ and will see that NEW EARTH—it’s the best we’ll ever experience—and a way to have a ‘better world for your children, truly, in the future—and it will never be ruined! We all long for this ‘renewed’ earth!!! Jesus will REIGN! Hallelujah!
Sixty-eight percent of the world’s cobalt, a significant part of a battery, comes from the Congo. Their mines have no pollution controls, and they employ children who die from handling this toxic material. Should we factor in these diseased kids as part of the cost of driving an electric car?
You speak eloquently and substantiate the facts. I really appreciate your views on this and hope I can share (by email) your blog. You are correct that the only thing that matters is if we know Jesus as our King and wait patiently for God’s judgment on this world.

Amen Donna! Loved this post!
You are such a talented writer. I wholeheartedly agree with all your points.
Thanks you all, you are so sweet! Isn’t it terrible I’m afraid to share this publically? I’m afraid I’d get kicked off any media platform for voicing these ideas. A shame, huh? I was always timid–but not with my pen 🙂
